MOODBOARD - Fashion Bird/Death Influences

These are images of different designs in fashion that have been influenced by birds and death. They are very costume like in design, but I can take elements from them as inspiration for any head pieces, accessories or props. I particularly like the Jean Paul Gaultier design, as it uses bones along the spine to connote death.

MOODBOARD - Celtic Patterns and Armour

I have been looking at Celtic patterns and how they use them also on armour.

I really admire the use of pattern and the weaving of them. This inspires me to use this pattern on the body and and accessories I might make.

MOODBOARD - Crows and Skulls

I have been looking at crows in art, because all three Goddesses Morrigan, Badb and Macha appear as crows on and off the battlefield.

It seems that crows are associated purely with images of death and despair. Whilst being appropriate for my theme, I do not want to make it too dark and depressing.

I also had a look at animal skulls for the war part of the theme (didn't want to do human skulls)

I really like the idea of using skulls in my work as it connotes death. They can also be seen as war trophies.

I can use skulls as props or as part of a headdress design. I am particularly interested in the picture to the left, because I can incorporate Celtic patterns into the skull.
